Wondering about brushes of the style of the Pentel Pocket Brush

Hi there!

I was wondering if by chance you know or remember some bundle that may include a brush that can produce a similar result to the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen (see the link for a detailed showcase).

In the default pack I guess the Sumi-E can be the closest, but maybe was made already something more similar for someone else (I think that it’s a common brush for inkers, so there is a chance).

Example:

Thanks for your help!

“Sensei” from Rakurri’s brush set feels pretty close to a brush pen! “Velvety ink” from the same pack feels like a smaller, lighter brush pen.

Since I user of Pentel brushpen I may recommend “Pen BrushPenSmooth” from HC_Pen&Pencil.bundle by Hushcoil.
He shares brushes for free from here:

Actually “d) Ink-7 Brush Rough” form Krita 4 default can also give similar effect. The essence is just fast size changing.

Is good, it has that “watered ink” feel, combines neatly with the watercolor brushes (I need to re-check all the Rakurri brush set, I did it long time ago and it shows that I forgot about some) , thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! I didn’t know that Bundle so, a lot of cool stuff!. I checked the “Pen BrushPen Smooth” but I felt that was too “clean” in his texture, but I see (in the same bundle that you mentioned) the “BrushPen Ink” that it was more “dirty” and I like it. The fish on the left was made with that, and the one in the right with the Sumi-e. for example (I lowered some opacity and added some texture to the canvas to add to the illusion). Thanks for the suggestion!

About more “dirty” you talk, do you mean you need more prominent texture when stroke is thinner? Are you aware about “height”-type texture modes paired to texture “strength” curve? Since Krita 5 to achieve such effect became much easier.

Yeah, dirty does not was the best word, I guess “rough” would be better. What interest me about this kind of brush is that starts in pure black but become “grainy” and wide when the inks “dry” and the brush wide at the end of the strokes (it’s a granular fade) but the end can be thin, like it shows here:

That its to say: start thin, it get wider with pressure, but the end of the stroke is thin again, just more textured (dry or rough)

And also that it’s not perfect in his outline in general, but grainy and imperfect.

Maybe I will take a try on emulate the brush, I never made one -apart on simple edits of existent ones. I will search first to the closest one that I can find and start from there.
