Us Senate is working on a bill ro regulate AI.
If AI was only a tool, then I wouldnât have a problem with AI in of by itself. But, with the current paradigm, it seems that it can be used to replace a section of the entire art field. I donât see that AI could solve 3D that well any time soon, especially CAD-level of a things (with NURBS being so finicky and is of infinite resolution), but it seems to be doing tremendously well on 2D side of the point where some jobs would be gone, and all that training is not worthwhile. Even unaffected art careers are affected by possible scam artists trying to take up jobs by faking up images that can pass on those field of work as results are usually shown in 2D anyway, and itâs already bad that most of them are still mixed with a section of the entire art field.
These day, if I suspect AI art, I would simply mute that âartistâ. At least there are still ways to tell such as inconsistent patterns especially if you come from image processing background, or badly drawn hand. I can tell most AI âartâ from works that arenât AI.
@Mythmaker I am extremely grateful for the mention of Artstation! That actually helped me out immensely as far as figuring out a direction. Through some of advice and of long time users of dA (one of which IS an art teacher), I am now able to spot works done by âpromptistsâ (aka, overnight âartistsâ that use AI) It is frightening how high the volume of the works displayed (even those that are featured) are AI generated and not labled as such. It is a little more difficult to tell when the real artists are using (for a time saver, mostly, and is extremely not okay especially if it isnât being used in conjunction with THEIR OWN creations) AI, being as though they already have the skillset, the eye, and therefore, they tend to do a better job of âcleaning upâ. Yes, at a glance AI looks wonderful, but when you look at closely it has a tendency to leave artifacts (I am guessing that some of that comes from resizing?) I just signed up with Artstation yesterday which looks to be spectacultar! THANK YOU! It is much cleaner and has a very clear definition of what it is about. I, by no means, am anywhere near being able to do this on a professional level, but immediately got a sense of Artstation being the right spot for building a portfolio, etc. I am literally starting off from bare bones and dA had left me scratching my head wondering if I had made a mistake even trying to attempt to break into this medium at my age. Deviant Art has certainly been inundated by the AI movement no matter what they claim or how they claim to protect you. âEnigmaâ is very much a polite way of putting it. Again, I canât thank you enough. My apologies for getting slightly off the âoff topicâ.
Iâm starting to really hate AI images⌠Some communities, especially those centered around anime-stylized games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are completely flooded with AI, and I hate it. I want to see real artistsâ work with a soul, not this no-effort nonsense. And I donât care if took long hours to get the prompt right, just get out of my face, pleaseâŚ
I really shudder for the day when I can no longer tell the difference between the real thing and the AI garbage Bleh.
so true!
i feel like itâs all become uncanny between real art and AI âartâ
i just wanna see some cool art from real artists not some prompt you worded weirdly
Thereâs also issues like fake influencers now as in they been generated, and questionable materials generated by AI too. I just think AI art proponents has lost all arguments in favor of AI art at that point. Itâs a net negative in society even without those. It needs regulation.
I finally was able to get a few of my peices âglazedâ but the Glaze Project seems to be offline. It states that this is the case for a few daysâŚWellâŚit has been over a weekâŚHave they abandoned the project and are there any alternatives to WebGlaze for tablets?
@RookStar I wasnât able to find out anything other than the brief message on their website. If you have a Twitter/X account, you can watch for announcements from TheGlazeProject.
@sooz Yeah, unfortunately, that is where I am at as well. I had learned about the status from âXâ and it reads similarly. I had only got on there long enough to get signed up for WebGlaze. I otherwise avoid social media platforms whenever possible and as a result of having used âXâ my email is getting inundated with feeds from there because âXâ forces you to follow at least 3 users or topics of interest in order to use it⌠Thank you for checking into it. I was hoping that a PC user possibly would have more insight to what is going on than I possible have access to. I did stumble on something a couple of weeks back that mentioned âMistâ which, I think is similar to Glaze but, I couldnât get much info about it. I caught a glimpse of it on one of Glaze devs posts?
Bluesky seems to be a better alternative to X/Twitter these days, and there are a lot of âno AIâ groups on Bluesky, but that still does not prevent AI bot scraping.
We need some place that can guarantee no AI is stealing our art, and good regulations.
I miss the days where I created a piece of art, put up a watermark, and shared it on facebook to my friends.
I been thinking of the current rules set. Where should the line be drawn when it comes to AI tools. We know that image-generating is a no-no. But, what about denoising, or OCR reading? AI Denoising or AI-guided OCR isnât really hurting any one as far as I know and these are the AI tools that I can get behind. But, in-between those is the gray area I am thinking about.
Anyone who is utilizing genAI in their profession is shooting themself in the foot and in the head, the reason is that while you are using AI, AI is also using you. You are training the AI, especially if you are using the cloud services. Yeah keep using it, you will be replaced whether you use it or not anyway. The thing is the more you use it the more you will forget how to do art.
But, what about denoising, or OCR reading? AI Denoising or AI-guided OCR isnât really hurting
No one is arguing of the benefits but there is a world difference between using to detect text and intention to replacing artist.
@Reptorian The new rule for this forum is specific to AI image-generation tools.
Heh⌠If anyone wasnât convinced already that AI âartâ is literally stealing from the real art. Just saw this in my Hoyoverse feed today. Probably one of the worst case examples, but still⌠So much for the âlatent spaceâ.

I always had interest in and love and some talent for art and after many years away from art, began to draw and paint with a newfound enthusisasm. However, the new developments in the so-called âA.I. artâ is very disquieting. 8 year old children producing perfectly rendered machine paintings with only some keywords and in minutes is infuriating. After finding my passion and ambition again, I feel like Iâm whistling in the wind because of AI âartâ with all its perfect lighting, colors, lines, textures etc. I think itâs really a sad era for artists. I even think to quit sometimes. What do you think?
I moved your post to this thread. We limit the discussion of Ai to this thread so please use this thread to talk about it.
Did they, though? If one orders a pizza and tells them what toppings one wants doesnât make one the pizza baker. Same goes for ordering an image from an AI. They didnât produce anything.
Youâre being too harsh, AI changed a few things (joking)âŚ
Actually not. However, they can use it anywhere they like and noone will question if the work is genuine. thatâs the problem.
@terbas I can understand why you feel that way but I donât feel that way myself.
Whatever artwork I manage to produce is made to please me and to give me the personal satisfaction of knowing that I can do it from my own ideas and my own skills and abilities.
Making art using AI-generative tools is like getting a very well made suit and then walking around while wearing it and saying, âLook at how good a tailor I am.â ⌠yeah right.
People who donât know much may be impressed but people who do know enough will realise that youâre a sad fraud.
