Currently, it is very useful how you can switch between the eraser and brush while also saving eraser brush size.
I think it would be really useful to extend this to blending as well.
So you set up a custom brush and you set up the blending options. But there is one problem what if you want to quickly block out a shape, and not have the slowdowns that come with the blending brush calculating blending. You can’t (unless you switch brush). Or you simply want to turn off blending to force yourself to use sharp edges.
It would be great to have a toggle shortcut for enabling blending on a brush based on the user’s settings. Alternatively, being able to toggle any of the pen settings on/off would be cool, however, this is kinda niche.
A workaround is to use the / key to switch the brush itself. This key switches to last used brush preset. There is also , abd . to cycle in the favourite brush presets.
Do you mean brush blending mode like normal, overlay etc.?
If so, a year ago I created this addon which introduces an action that cycles around these (you specify a list of favourite blending modes, and you can use one shortcut to switch to the next one on a list (and to the first one when the list ends or you manually switch to any from outside the list)).
If you mean pixel and smudge engine - these are so different from each other that you can’t really convert between them too easily.
I mean the smudge engine. I suppose to be more clear if there was a toggle to turn on/off both the colour rate and smudge settings within a brush. I don’t think this would be too difficult to implement. For now I’ll just switch brush.
In case this comes up @kaichi1342 made a plugin called “Compact Brush Toggler”, which just happens to have a toggle for smudge mode, smudge length and color rates.
