A friend of mine wrote a poetry book and wanted me to draw him a book cover. Unfortunately he’s decided now on generating one using Ai , of which I can’t really stop him but if I must, I’d like to impress him and draw something way better just to prove how much better human ingenuity can be
And I’d like it to have such a theme and texture if possible. Got any tips?
Thanks

If you want to do it in Krita, take a look at the watercolor brushes and the paper textures.

Use real watercolor or, if you want to do it digitally @seguso ’s plugin ColorPlus , or using watercolor brushes, like @WaffleWarrior ’s Waffle’s Textured Brush Pack , @Pesi ’s Set of Watercolor Brushes , @RamonM ’s WATERC for stylus and mouse (←direct download link!), and also @Ico-dY ’s bundle Krita 5.x Extra Pack Watercolor Exploit RC2 (direct download ), which is part of the archive Krita_5.x_Extra_(BrushPresets).zip with even more bundles direct download ~150MB, which is part of the even bigger archive KRITA5_EXPANSION+EXTRA_CC-BY_Enrico_Guarnieri ~1GB (direct download ).
And here you find an improved version of @Pesi ’s watercolor page:
Here you’ll find a fixed version of @Pesi ’s watercolor-page, the additional files are also included in the archive. I think your Mac is able to unpack ZIP-Archives, if not you should ask a search engine for an adequate unpacker.
You have to install the bundle first, then you can open the Krita file included and immediately have to save it as a template in Krita via ‘‘File’’ >> ‘‘Create Template From Current Image’’.
From then on, you can select it in Krita’s ‘‘File’’ >> ‘‘New’’ dialog CTRL + N.…
here are more refined instructions:
The KRA file is a Krita document meant as a template for watercolor paintings.
Or, to be precise, as one part for creating a template. Since @Pesi has overlooked a little but important thing while creating it¹, it would be simpler/better for you to download and use my fixed and improved version of his template instead, which you can download from the links below.
To fix the error, I have packed the files with the patterns into an easy installable bundle, in the original version the files had t…
and here even more:
The bundle from my ZIP-Archive only contains the patterns you need to create and use the template which @Pesi initially offered, there is no brush preset or any other resource in it, it is only an aid to make Pesi’s template comfortably usable, which it wasn’t before.
And if you take a look at your initial question, it was about what this KRA-File is for. And it is only for creating a watercolor-canvas template that makes painting with Pesi’s brushes even more realistic.
And as I wrote above, …
