Welcome @Dario ! Iāve used Painter since it was with the original developers ⦠Donāt think it was ever called Procreateā¦did go through several owners before Corel⦠I started using Krita a few years back when I saw that it was capable (though sometimes in different ways) of doing anything Painter could do and I was long ago sick of of upgrade $$$$.
Hi, everyone. Iām Aja. For some years, Iād been working in a very outdated version of Photoshop Elements until a friend of mine from college suggested Krita to me around 2018 or so and found it to be incredibly wonderful (especially for free). Iāve thoroughly enjoyed this program, and I look forward to connecting with more people with my art with others here as my skill improves.
Thank you! I started with Painter 7 and actually it had a short lived rebrand, before Corel finally took over. Donāt mean to be a smarty-pants, but I remember that little bunny on the logo very well, since my last name āCoelhoā actually means bunny in Portuguese and it felt right. Hehe
I love what they did with Painter back then, but unfortunately with Corel the focus shifted more and more towards consumer and not professional artists. Which is fine, just wasnāt right for me.
Oh! I understand now⦠Procreate when Corel Bought them⦠⦠yepā¦I didnāt know thatā¦
from wiki: Metacreations sold off[when?] all their creative interests and Painter was acquired by Corel Corporation where it was temporarily rebranded āProcreateā Painter during its transition into the Corel Suite of graphic applications.
Sorry for my confusion!
Iām better informed now!
Indeed! No need to apologise at all - in doubt I should for starting a discussion right away and probably misusing this thread. See you around, my painter-mate!
Hello! Hello, Iām Waterfall! I have chosen, or been chosen by random chain of events, to relocate some of my attention to one of the finest centers of Krita talks. I thought so much of krita-artists site that I decided to establish my presence here, on the website so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. Iāve been proud to call Krita the best FOSS drawing app. And so, whether Iām here to stay, or passing through on my way to parts unknown - I welcome new possibilities. Itās nice to be here.
Did anyone recognize altered quote about City 17 from video game Half-Life 2?
Ahem. Iām Waterfall and I have sense of humor.
I also know various random facts.
There exist fishing cats, they love swimming and primarily eat fish.
I can do a bit of Vector & 3D. I like FOSS & cute things.
For now my ability of using Krita is limited to weird filters over a few brush strokes.
That may change. I may learn. Do better than image presented below these words.
Hi im Pete and i started animating with krita recenty. I want to thank all the people that contributed to this piece of software. When i first started using it it felt really familiar and i mean that. I tried other animating software because of the lack of vector brushes in krita and i just couldnt seem to get familiar with them ,no matter how time i spent.Krita has a truly well thought UI, good job! I saw the amazing arts in this forum you guys are amazing. Take care
Hi! Iām David and am a designer of 30 years, Director of UX design for a global company, and long time traditional and digital artist.
I have a studio in my garage for the traditional stuff, and a full set up for doing digital stuff (yay for giant Wacom tablets!). Been using Apple computers since 1976. Iāve most likely used every single painting/digital art program ever made, and stumbled onto Krita a few years back. With v5 itās rocking my world, and have been using mainly it to create my digital pieces in conjunction with Pixelmator Pro (for colour correction) and a few other programs where necessary.
Iāve been posting on the Mastadon art instance, and am in the middle of moving all my prints for sale off Vsual since itās closing in April onto the Saatchi Art site. Iāve explored over 40+ years landscapes, nudes, portraits, then went seriously abstract with gestural work, colour field and geometric minimalism. My current style is best described as a cross between folk, found, and American Modern with simplified colour palettes and shapes, without needing meddlesome things like perspective and realism.
Iāll post when I remember to, especially after the moving sites thing gets done, and have already really been enjoying discovering the talent here. Thanks to the folks who have already said hi.
