Hi. I’m new in this site and also new using krita but I have knowledge on how other drawing software works.
Right now I’m very confused on how basic operation works in Krita like selecting multiple layers, scaling strokes while maintaining the aspect ratio, and other operation.
Every tutorial i came across always need the Shift or Ctrl button, I’m on android tablet and obviously drawing with keyboard attached is not convenience.
CSP has little buttons floating to do such operation. I wonder if Krita has the same buttons or maybe another way to do it.
Check out the documentation - docs.krita.org. for general know how.
Here on the forum there are several android users who would help you in setting things up. Search for posts with android keyword.
This is why Krita is still considered “beta” for android tablet: need some tweak by the user for touch screen only device. (and might want to attach a keyboard)
Also note that android version does not support python plugin now, including default python pluguns, so you might find some docker missing in the docker list.
PS: This might somewhat deprecate in upcoming 5.1.1 since the default “pan canvas” gesture will be changed to “one finger drag”.
you can modify your toolbar to add and remove actions/ tools/ shortcut.
like you can add a toggle for different level of smoothing.
Though I agree about what you suggest, or something like a detachable toolbar section.
For now the best way to have the floating bar, is to utilize one of the too toolbars, [file or main] and make it a floating bar, add configure it to have the icons of action you want, or sliders.
you can make one of those two toolbar float by dragging to the canvas area on that two rows of that in the left.
Edit: is there any tool / or functionality you want to be on it?
The toolbar you mentioned would be helpful if I know what each actions do, I tried to configure it and there’s a list of actions I’m not familiar with. But I’ll give it a try tho
“Done” or “apply” button after using crop tool or transform tool. CSP has it on the floating buttons.
A way to select multiple layers. CSP has a little tick box on each layer to select multiple layer for easier layer management, like grouping, arranging layers etc.
Resize stroke while maintaining aspect ratio (it is doable from Tool Options docker but still not easy I think)
I only spend a little time with krita and that’s the thing I found difficult to do. I’m sorry if I keep referring to CSP i just found it easy to use and it has the same desktop UI like Krita. So I believe Krita could do the same like CSP or maybe better.
Transform tool will auto apply when switch to other tool, reset and apply bottom are in tool option docker.
Crop tool can be able to cancel clicking outside the crop area, need apply with tool option docker.
I haven’t do that on my tablet yet, don’t know how without a keyboard.
Right-click / long-press on a layer have some option in “Select” to select multiple layer, but not that flexible IMO.
Yes, you need to access tool option docker, choose “scale” on the right side and click the “chain” next to scale% to lock the aspect ratio.
This is a fair request, i just tried with krita on mobile and true without a keyboard its almost impossible to select multiple unrelated layers. should be a feature request or be in consideration in potential improvements in the layer docker.
It can be a toggle in the layer docker settings to show checkbox for selection, there is an option for thumbnail sizes.
Ideally when mobile UI is designed, I would like it to behave like mobile selection behaves. Touch and hold and it will show checkboxes, then select by clicking on the checkboxes plus there will be a button to select all.
