It’s because I see the license CC-BY-SA. I want to draw some drawings using these brushes and upload the works on microstocks. Is it ok?
@emilm has already said what is allowed with it:
And the human-readable version of the license adds:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
So, you can do what you asked for.

Thank you very much.
It’s because there is statement in the license “You must give appropriate credit , provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made . You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.”
This should make it 100% clear that while you are bound by the license when you play around with the bundle itself and its contents, but what you create with the bundle is yours and not license-bound.
The other thing is the etiquette that prevails in the world of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software), where it is a question of good manners to give credit and name the means/tools used, so Krita and the Memileo Impasto Brushes.
This can also pay off for you, at least when you look at the big picture. If you promote both Krita and the brushes you used to create your artwork simply by naming them, you’ll entice people to try those tools.
Some of them will usually donate a certain amount to the project, which ultimately helps to keep Krita alive and improving. So in the long run, you will get better tools.
And giving credit doesn’t cost you anything.

Ok, it’s clear now. Thank you very much for your clear explanation.
my wife is having all of her RAM eaten up by this brush pack, I’ve been thinking that i can remove a bunch of frames from the brush so it doesn’t eat up all of her 16GB of memory, but i don’t fully understand how the .gih file works exactly, where can i find more info on this?
the strange thing is that we are limiting krita to only 8GB but it still consumes memory beyond this point, it’s almost like it doesn’t get rid of the brush after replacing it with another in memory, so i don’t know if this would help much
Hi,
What’s the operating system, document bit depth/color space, canvas resolution and number of layers?
What’s the memory usage like (on the same document) when using regular brushes in comparison?
Are you running the latest Krita version?
Memory compression is a thing, maybe the uncompressed is what’s being shown? (For example in system monitor on macOS on my computer, Krita memory usage reads 3,73GB while real memory reads 1,81GB.)
Most of these have two layers(dimensions) - first control the light direction and second is a incremental one that animates across the brush mark. The light direction is either 18 or 9 images, and the incremental one varies in length between brushtips.
Reducing the number of light directions may cause some harsh cuts in the brush texture. (If you don’t care about the light direction being consistent you can reduce it to just a single one.)
If you reduce the incremental sequence you’ll have to adjust the spacing for the brush texture to line up between stamps. There will be less overlap and so the blending will behave differently.
Instead of throwing away ever x incremental image it’d be better to combine brushtips into a taller one instead. Painting curved lines will show more artifacts, you’ll have to adjust the spacing but the blending should remain about the same.
Third way to optimize would be to scale down the brushtip size, the brushes will look less sharp as a result.
this brush pack is a work of art in and of itself. never seen anything even close to it.
Thank you so much for these incredible brushes! I love using them. As someone who still hasn’t actually tried oil painting, I can say that these feel exactly how I imagine oil paints feel, haha.
In any case, I’m definitely going to buy them on your Gumroad page as well!
I do have one question: I noticed in Wesley Gardner’s demo video that he has a lot more than the 10 brushes that come with the pack. What are all the extras and where did they come from? Did they just not make the final cut?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t need more than 10 – truthfully, I just use the “01 flat brush” like 90% of the time – I’m just curious!
Thanks again for all your hard work!
that posting offers the rest of these brushes.
I’m not sure if your status allows you seeing and using the pencil icon right to the headline, which will give you access to the older bundles of that resource, but if it does not, I can upload my collection of them and offer them here.

Aha, thank you! I see now, those are older, incremental versions of the bundle that were being tested out.
I probably won’t install the older versions for now – I’d probably just get overwhelmed with all the brushes! But it’s really interesting to read through this thread and see the evolution. So much work went into these! Really impressive.
TYSM, this was what i was looking for a while. It really means a lot for Krita community because you made something professional and, what can i say, its a must resource for this engine. I’m deeply grateful for your work.
A post was split to a new topic: Help setting up Krita
thank you so much!
God these are so good, i miss when my laptop could handle them properly without turning every stroke into a laggy hellscape
like i said on the other thread, can’t wait to try these!
