You may be right. I posted under the wip but will probably post something new under the final submission. Just thought it would go well since this months category coincided with my most recent project.
I decided to go easy on this one. No full armor for me
Story: Viking child playing with spoils of war dad brought after winning a battle. Mom doesn’t know about it yet.
WIP. Rhinestone and silver bear necklace with metal clasps. It will be all hand drawn with my usual 2 or 3 brushes, ink pen, blender, airbrush, lasso tool, and 3 layers. No tracing and though Ill try to get the image as accurate as possible I may add some creative flair. I’ll try to post a video or at least some step by step progress images.
When I saw the topic, Marvellous Metal I thought of those monoliths that were popping up around the world a few years ago and wanted to take a pass at painting one of those. After a quick image search, I found some cool references and Jumped into Krita to get going.
I usually do landscapes so there’s not a whole bunch of metallic stuff in my works. The background is nowhere near set, I’m not even sure if it’s going to be a waterfall, trees, or something else. I just wanted to block something in and see how it all fits together. However, even in this beginning of a setting, the monolith seems to be just sitting there, not as majestic as I’d like it to be. I tried to capture the gleam of the monolith and make it even more than what’s in the references. I’m totally up for pointers on how to make it look more… I don’t know… shiny?
Reflections. Throw some green at the bottom and on the back and some very bright yellow glare on the top to match that ray of light…
KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAA… (Ooops, my bad, wrong spell, that one is blue! LOL)
Aaaargh…! Do you guys also have that phase after you’ve finished your initial sketch, where you need to put flat colors in clean shapes trying to follow the approximate lines of the sketch? Only after it’s done can I lock the alphas and begin the fun part of painting, but getting those shapes clean is such a chore!
