I love this! Thank You
I’d like to say thank you
I was struggling with placing reference pictures around the canvas and having a pop up docker like this really is a game-changer. It’s just what I needed, I don’t have to zoom out or pan back and forth just to see the the reference at the same time I’m drawing. Wonderful plugin.
hello! I’m having a little trouble installing this plugin. Following all the usual steps like others but for some reason it’s not showing up in the plugin menu to enable? The appropriate files are in the resource library, and I know i’m doing it right since I have the theme editor plugin working well. Would you consider making a video tutorial on how to get this to work? I’m not the best at technology sometimes
Edit: Disregard I just figured it out- I had to go about it an alternate way by importing the link instead of dragging files to the resource library
I need someone who can tell me how can i add this into my krita as i didn’t find an manual or tutorial how to add this.

In Krita, open the menu “Tools” >> “Scripts” select “Import Python Plugin from File…” and then select the downloaded ZIP-File and confirm the dialogs with OK, restart Krita. Now the plugin is installed.

thanks i tried to do it and than it worked but thank you for the tutorial
how can i put it in krita can someone explain me please
Read just 2 posts above yours.
Hello! Can you make a simple tutorial on how to insert this tool? I looked but couldn’t find it, perhaps due to my stupidity, I also tried some methods that I knew about but they didn’t work. tkx
Hello @DaisukiKoshiko and welcome to the forum!
You install plugins in Krita by clicking on “Tools” >> “Scripts” >> “Import Plugin from File” and in the dialog that opens, select the file you just downloaded, confirm the selection, then confirm Krita’s activation request and the message that the plugin is installed, and restart Krita.
If you missed letting Krita activate the plugin during the steps above:
Then you have to search in Krita under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Python Plugin Manager’’ for the plugin you just installed and activate it by checking the box in front of it. Then confirm with “OK” and restart Krita a second time to be able to use the plugin.

To add on what @Michelist said, here is the manual’s page on managing python plugins here for more information.
A small update for those who want to save a little more space for the image:
- The position of the tab bar can now be changed. The default is now to be on top when the docker is tall, and on the left when the docker is wide.
- When there’s only one tab the tab bar is now hidden by default.
Both of these options are in the new “UI Settings” menu.
I may implement some kind of hiding/positioning option for the toolbar on the bottom in the future, but that’s a bit more complicated.
Two more minor notes:
- For anyone who is for some reason running the standalone version, it now enforces the Fusion style, which Krita usually uses, to make sure it looks and behaves as expected.
- The README now includes instructions about how to install Krita plugins, with a link to the relevant Krita manual page.
Good info. So, where do I get the plugin for installing? Is there a “download” somewhere? Sorry, I’m new to Krita.
Hello @Bill_Melendez and welcome to the forum!
Downloads are usually found in the first posting of a topic. Also, updates are mostly added to that first posting too, only seldom updates are found in the course of a topic.
So, if you had read the first topic thoroughly, you would have found it right after:

Howdy!
First of all, awesome plugin
Second of all: I’d like to ask if there’s a way to make the images persistent, like, keep all the images I uploaded between sections (instead of re-uploading them every time I re-open the file/Krita)
Third of all: would be troublesome to ask for an option to hide the toolbar? (like, just keep the tabs visible)
Thanks in advance
I’ve now added UI Settings->Show Toolbar to hide the toolbar.
As for a way to remember previously opened images, I’ll think about how I might want to implement that.
How do I add this to the docker? I’ve looked all around and I can’t find where to download the zip file to add it. Or do you not add the angle selector with a zip file?
Hello @Taiyo16, and welcome to the forum!
To which docker do you want to add another docker? I think you do misunderstand something here.
If that were true, then you had already found the download link for this plugin. The ZIP-File has to be downloaded using the link in the first posting, and clearer than this ↓ a hint can’t get.
From which plugin are you even talking here? Okay, probably you are talking about the possibility to rotate the loaded references, that can be done with this plugin, if you are using a recent version of the Krita Next nightlies, so Krita pre ALPHA versions with the version count Krita 5.3.x prealpha (gitxxxxxxx) where the x’s are wildcard characters. The recent ones are found here.
So, and now how to install a plugin in Krita:
Then, the easiest way to install plugins in Krita is to go to “Tools” >> “Scripts” >> “Import Python Plugin from File…”, then in the dialog that opens, specify the path to the plugin, so browse to the downloaded ZIP on your PC or Mac and select the ZIP file you just downloaded and confirm the selection, confirm the next dialog box as well, then restart Krita and then, depending on the plugin, set up the plugin to your liking or use it right away.
By the way, if you are using an Android device, you can not install plugins, thanks Google.

¹ Okay, maybe you belong to those who have issues when it comes to the terminology connected to computer operation and handling files.
Usually, one downloads something to one’s device (PC, Mac, Tablet, Cell Phone, etc.) to save it somewhere on the device, often folders like Download or Desktop are used therefore.
Plugins are installed in applications, may it be on a desktop or mobile, doesn’t matter, they are not downloaded into an application, at best they are downloaded by the application. And some apps are able to install things they downloaded to themselves, even Krita.
And although there exists an option in Krita to directly download a plugin (what is typically unusual, but may be the future), it is also only meant to install the plugin after Krita downloaded it. But since you obviously haven’t found the option to install the plugin you have downloaded, you can’t have seen the option to install it via downloading by Krita for installation in Krita …

Oh no, I think my wording was incorrect, my apologies. What I’m talking about is this that I circled in red. I already installed the reference tabs plugin and it works fine, but I’m confused on how to add the angle selector to it as well.
