People are leaving Twitter because of musk?
That is absolutely hilarious.

You should see the troll/parody tweets at the moment, it both a train wreck and entertainment

I’ve just had a look in my mastodon instance to see what’s happening and I noticed this video where someone explains the ā€˜fediverse’ with a very well presented overview:

Not only because of Musk
But also because they don’t know how it will be in the future
And for some people like me, because of philosophy

For what I saw, most people I follow are not leaving, they’re creating new account in an another space, like having a backup in ā€œcase ofā€ā€¦

For my part, most of tweets I can see are toxic and made me depressive, I don’t choose to see them
For now on Mastodon it’s clean.

I now spent more time on mastodon than twitter, I feel really more confortable here

For whom interested in to understand mastodon concept and philosophy, a really good site:

Yep…agreed…I’ve never been on twitter or facebook, but am enjoying the environment (i.e. no trolling, politics, etc…) on Mastodon.art

I’m honestly waiting till mastodon calm down a bit before joining.
Though I haven’t had that issue with trolling or politics yet with inkblot.art
I’m still checking out a few other sites too though better option is always making your own website.

Even before Musk bought twitter it was a absolute mess of a site, although the account that impersonated the compay Eli Lilly and Company (one of the biggest insulin manufactors out in the US) saying insulin was free and making the company lose billions was pretty funny.

Twitter has been one of the worse sites ever on the open web and musk is probably the change that is making all of them bad people make a fuss about changing their multiple account setup power.

if they migrate into Mastodon it too will have issues as they start to exploit it too. So I would not be betting into Mastodon all too much now from that article. Were those people are is were the trouble is at in the interwebs.

And just save things into a disk also. offline is more trust worthy than a site.

As with @Grum999 I have a philosophical distaste for Twitter. The changes Musk has tried are poorly considered, the layoffs annoy me, and I have other options. I have a choice where I put my eyeballs.

My experience at Mastodon has been positive and I look forward to using it. There is no Mastodon instance specifically for the 3D art world but someone could start one if they wanted.

I wonder if a $1USD/month patreon would support an AWS server + hosting costs for a FOSS 3D Mastodon instance? Hmm.

…and… I’m looking for a place to host my gallery (digital/traditional art as well as photography)
I once had a personal website and liked the way the gallery worked there…not many like it and I’ve become increasingly disgusted with Deviant Art and particularly with the Harvesting of art by AI (which they have since reverted) and the changes they’ve made over the last few years. I think I’m going to begin rebuilding my gallery at Pixelfed and deleting my presence at DA… Pixelfed is part of the federated web like Mastodon where I’m also building a presence…

Right now, this seems to be the best option you have if you think self-hosting is out of the question for you, for whatever reason.

I felt betrayed. DA is art website they should support artist not AI.
I’m slowly trying to move on from DA and trying other art site like Artfol and Newgrounds.

a bit of follow up…
I did already have a pixelfed login that I created a while back when I began this search for an image gallery. Put three images up there…it’s not everything I might want…gallery is generated from posts so no full control over display etc. etc. but may stay there and/or move some or all of my Deviant Art images there - @kenny's Portfolio

also I’m beginning to understand more about Mastodon and blocking/silencing other sites. Because Mastodon.art blocks Mastodon.social it prevents many things. From .art I can follow people on .social but I can’t ā€˜boost’/reshare their posts. I suppose that means it is best to have/keep multiple accounts unless the/your home server is totally open.

if I didn’t say so before my mastodon.art site is - Kenny (@kenny@mastodon.art) - Mastodon.ART

Im in socel.net and i can boost or reshare post from people on mastodont.art and social. Is it only mastodon.art channel that cant?

It’s because mastodon.art has mastodon.social blocked/silenced

There are many different forms of social media with different facilities:

The comparison is not accurate, but it is meant to be a comic or joke so no issue

All jokes aside this is a good reminder to update you socials every few months or so.
It feels like every site that exist for artist is going wonky.

Soo I’m watching twitter at the moment yeah Good reminder to keep few socials/link-tree in handy then just one platform
