If you don’t actually want to see the vector object at all, you can just turn off its outline and fill. That won’t affect the appearance of the text. I’ll warn you that there is a reported, long standing bug, where line attributes may not be displayed. Just switch tabs between line and fill attributes and they’ll reappear.
I’m having trouble figuring out justification on text flowed to follow vector objects. When I first place the text on the curve, I can use the Text Properties to change the justification. But if I swap which side of the curve the text is flowed to by dragging the handle to the other side of the curve, all bets are off. Justification can no longer be selected through the Text Properties tool, and it swaps between left and right justified, depending on which side of the line it’s on, and totally disregarding the justification setting on the Text Properties. Center justification is no longer possible. It ignores the Text Anchor and Text Align settings after that.
Can anyone tell me how to change the color of a single word with the new text tool?
I’m probably just stupid and missing something obvious but I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
Edit: I figured it out! You just pick the color you want in the color selector docker with the text tool selected.
It was hard for me because I’ve long abandoned the use of the color selector in favor of the pop up pallet color selector in order to save space.
Well I did try that method but it still seems to affect the text for some reason but it does make me think of another question I have. Is there a way to turn the vector object inside out? I ask because another issue I’ve noticed is my text going outside the bounds of the vector object.
I just checked out the new text tool on my Android tablet. I’m wondering if there’s a way to sort through, or exclude, all the foreign language fonts in order to find the ones in my language (English) easier? It’s overwhelming on my Android tablet.
I assume you mean the Noto fonts? Those are unfortunately all separate fonts, the same problem exists in every program I’ve looked at if you install the fonts on desktop as well. Not just drawing programs, LibreOffice, Firefox and even Chrome made by the same company that makes these fonts show them all separately. So it seems like nobody has figured out a way to exclude them.
Yes, it’s the the Noto fonts.
Thanks for your answer.
Some things":
- Submitted another bug report.
- It would be neat if I could select part of the text and enter Ctrl-[I/B/U] to affect that part of the text without opening SVG properties.
Other than that, I like this so far!
I’m able to do that on my end (Window OS, Krita 5.3.0).
Weird. I did try selecting part of a text and pressing Ctrl+I in the past but it did not work so I resorted to just using the character editor. And indeed, I tried it just now with a fresh bootup of Krita and, again, it didn’t work. But when I pressed Ctrl+I again, it did change that part of the text to Italics like I intended.
That’s another bug I’ll have to submit, then.
Bug reported as promised.
Is there a reason for making the font selection tool so minuscule? I know the update looks to benefit typesetters and stuffs but why is the change to text formatting making it actively harder to pick a font and such, especially when you have to use like 5 very sparse font in a sea of 80
I agree the menu could use some adjustments, to make it easier to visually see the font styles as we scroll.
Fortunately, we are given some helpful features for when we know what we’re after. For example, we can type, in both the Font Family field and in the Seach field at the bottom of the font dropdown menu, to filter the selection. So, we only need to type the first few letters of the font, and we’ll be given a shortened list. We can also create presets (on the Presets tab of the Text Properties docker), to set up specific font favorites.
Back again with another question is there a way to split text between layers? Or make the outline bigger on said text? Because until I started my most recent caption I was able to have a somewhat sizable outline without resorting to layer styles since if I do use those it seems to affect the whole text?
You can have multiple text objects on as many vector layers as you want but the same text object can only be on one layer at a time.
I probably should reword it: Can I split part of a text object into a separate layer?
No you would need 2 separate instances of a text object.
Example:
Example
Exa
mple
So I’d have to redo the the text objects basically?
Steps:
- Select the Text Field with the Select Shapes Tool
- On the Tool Options docker select the Line Tab and chose either Solid Color Fill or Gradient Fill.
- Adjust the Thickness option to the desired line width.
Text can only flow between objects on the same vector layer. What is the outcome you’d like from splitting the text onto two layers? There may be multiple methods available to help get you whatever effect you’re trying to attain.
