Annotations outside canvas

Is there a way to make annotations outside the canvas? For example, I take a pencil and it allows me, for example, to draw over the reference images that I have outside, or over the canvas itself. If there is something like this in a plugin I would like to know how to do it, if not it would be a great feature to add to Krita imo

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for?

I actually tried the above but it gave me an error message so I deleted it and I can’t recommend it for that reason. I will continue to look around.

I got the latest version from Github and it works. Just click on the green code button then download zip. Open Krita and use settings/import python plugin from file. No need to unzip it first.

I already tried that and it’s not what I’m looking for, the notes tend to be very buggy when there are many reference images on the canvas and the use is a bit uncomfortable, what I’m looking for is something similar to what the blender has to annotate above of everything. I don’t know if that would be so difficult to implement in a plugin, but it doesn’t seem to be native.

Nice to see this already here, I was about to make a thread for this. Having an annotation tool or a notes tool would be very helpful to jot down ideas and notes while working. It could also be a good collaboration tool or a helping tool when sharing krita files.
As the OP suggests, it could be functionally similar to blender’s annotation tool. A simple new tool which is a brush which can be used to write anywhere, even outside canvas. It should be treated like an assistant layer and should be controllable from the tool options docker. There should be options for color, brush width, opacity, clear all, etc.

Hi, I’ve created a plugin for that Notes Board (for annotations outside canvas)
Is an implementation in a tricky way but it works
