Hi

Please avoid to ask a loooooooong question in topic’s title

If you can provide some screenshot of your Krita’s desktop, it could help to understand what you currently have and what you’re currently doing wrong.

I deleted the background but it still didn’t work

Which version of Krita are you using?
Even if layers are “animated” it seems you don’t have keyframes

The first thing is to create keyframes.

In timeline, right-click and then “Create blank frames”

On each frame, you’ve to draw the content that will define animation

At the end, in menu File, you have to render animation and choose WebM format

Here’s complete animation tutorial for beginners:

man I just want this black background to be transparent , like in the gif

if you are using krita 4 thats just not possible, krita 4 is unable to render transparent gifs. I am unsure if krita 5 is able to do so, but i faintly remember this being discussed to be added. what i would do is export to image sequence and use another program to assemble it

If you make an animation with a transparent background in krita, then Render it out as an animated .gif, the resulting .gif file is not suitable for frame by frame use in another application, such as a video editor.

It’s not even suitable for use by importing into krita.

You need to Render it out as an Image Sequence of .png files and then import that sequence of files into the video editor.

GIMP can produce animated .gif files with transparent backgrounds that are suitable for use in other applications but I suggest that you use krita with Rendering out to an Image Sequence first.

@LunarKreatures 5.0.0 is able to do this so @Vitor might want to try that using the 5.0.0-beta2 from here:
Second Beta for Krita 5.0 | Krita

Paying attention to the warnings link given at the top of the webpage.

how do you know the version of krita on pc

krita 4 allows to generate WebM files with transparent background

This has been generated with Krita 4:

If I understand, the “black rectangle with orange ball” is what you have exported from Krita and imported in shotcut

  1. Did you exported it as an animation or just as one image?
  2. Which format did you use to export the image from Krita?

ok thanks, i will try to make the frames to frames, and i need to uninstall my krita(4.4.8)? thanks in advance.

1- I rendered as an animation

@Vitor I suggest that you use the Windows portable .zip package that will run independently of your installed 4.4.8.
However, it will still share the installed 4.4.8 configuration files and the resources folder.
So, back these up first as explained in the linked notes.

@Grum999 Which application did you use to Import frames from the animated .webm file? I’ve yet to try that.

I’ve exported to WebM
Not imported

The problem is, what @Vitor want is not clear.

I understand he want:

  1. to create an animation in Krita, with transparent background
  2. import it in shotcut

I don’t know shotcut but it should be able to manage WebM import I hope.
Otherwise solution is to export PNG sequence (all video editor I hope are able to import PNG sequence file)

  1. Did you try to export as WebM as I proposed?
  2. Are you sure your document in Krita is animated? In your screenshot I don"t see any keyframe… :face_with_monocle:

Grum999

You Rendered to WebM, yes.
I’m wondering if it’s been confirmed that a video editor or even another animation creation application can Import the .webm file to give frames with a transparent background.

Yes you’re right
Not sure many video editor are able to manage WebM properly; that’s why I suggested the PNG sequence export as alternative solution

ok guys, i’ll try to do what you told me, then i’ll come back here to tell you how it was
