Welcome, @DavB. Your English is fine - but even if it werenāt fine youād still be welcome here.
my name is Glenn! Iāve been an artist since I was 7 years old, my aunt is an art teacher so she and I had art competitions and that started my artist journey! I donāt think Iām going to make it a professional thing but I do enjoy drawing as a hobby. i mainly draw in my little anime style but I do like doodleing realistic-ish eyes. I switch between traditional art and digital so some days I wont be as active as usual here.
Welcome, @glennjpg.
A post was split to a new topic: New forum member needs help
Mabuhay! (literally means live!, to live!).
An overused yet famous greeting from where Iām fromāmeant to welcome people, to express liveliness, and to embody a positive outlook in life.
A freshly turned 20 year old who lives in the Philippines that goes by a pseudonym, Evnioa Emi! A name made that got lost in translation within multiple layers of unnamed alter ego. And jumbled letters derived from homophones, in which the month I was expected to be born into but ended up being born early. (I use another one in my local community, which I havenāt had an opportunity to use yet.)
Yes!
It is I!āand for some personal reason, I couldnāt use my real name, not only because of privacy reason but also because I couldnāt call myself, using my own name, an artist. A proud and confident one out in the open, to be exact. And I have to stop it from here to avoid going to deep.
To continue my ramblings, I am a self-taught āartistā (most of us are) ever since I could remember from when I started holding a pencil.
Because of the lack of artistic environment and a not-so open minded society to artist, a child, still learning how to grasp a way to express emotions had to timidly teach herself the ways of imaginations and budding creativity. Thus, greatly needing affection and affirmation to parents who was too busy earning money and end up showing such skills to other people and consciously hiding it to her closest person in her little world.
To stop my poetic way to ramble on, I had to cut things short.
Fast forward to months before the pandemic, I unknowingly welcomed my quarter life crisis and fell further into the deep pit of self-loathing and self-abuse, and loss of confidence. In frequent burnouts and starting social isolation, the pandemic made it possible for me to hide myself in the public and stopped using social media altogether, even stopped learning online for my basic education. Critically ruining a bright future and strictly guarded career path.
Barely graduated from Senior High School using the little money I had for me trying to do commissions of charcoal portraits. Proceeded to college from originally choosing Fine Arts to Psychology, and end up dropping out halfway. Staying āunemployedā and without any diploma to hold onto, I tried to heal myself with the power of baking.
Painstakingly choosing Multimedia Arts to I.T. and finally end with Hospitality Management. And therefor starting as a freshman next month for the new S.Y.
Quite the thrill of choosing and decision making, aināt it?
Finally reaching this point, why say all of this you asked?
Because I had decided to start as a new leaf, embracing my inner artist child, letting my self indulge in making art and letting it stay as a hobby while looking forward to a career path within the boundary of my comfort zone and exploration to new discoveries of my interest.
I am originally a traditional artist and because of the growing technology around us, I had long been curious to digital art but lacking a lot of resources. So I had to use the phone I got at the end of my junior high school years as a medium, and my finger, as the stylus.
I started stumbling pretty much to the new experience and tried to accustom myself using Ibis paint. (see my duckling profile as a proof)
To finally discovering Krita a few days ago. I burrowed a cheap tablet my mom bought for something sheāll use as a teacher for her students. And since the S.Y. basically ended, no one was using it and naturally made myself use it.
I am pretty much new to everything revolving around digital art and animation, but it is within my personal project to grow and use Krita along the way. Thatās why my ramblings are far too long lol.
Iāll be making a self commitment and follow through in a slow and steady manner. This is actually just a reminder for myself so I wonāt be slacking off too much and procrastinating in the near future.
By ending this lengthy self introduction, I apologize for me taking much of your time following my drama but I am mostly grateful for you reading through it lol.
I tried making it brief as possible, ā¦really.
(I had actually made myself tear up while writing this lol).
Have a good day and a good night! ![]()
Hello @Evy, and welcome to the forum!
Well, thatās a nice-varied development that you have already brought behind you at such a young age. Sure, I take from your text, at least I believe this, that both you yourself had other expectations, as well as apparently were set in you. But I look back briefly on my career, so I can tell you, that does not have to be bad, I myself am happy today to have made so many different experiences, and hope that you will also see this as good for you at some point. According to the first impression you are a warm and pleasant character, capable of self-reflection, I like that.
I wish you much joy here in the forum, and success in all things, such as your wishes in artistic development and also the upcoming job.

Welcome to the forum! ![]()
For a moment before reading I thought that this may have been generated by AI
(Just joking)
Welcome, @Evy (from a fellow hobby artist)
hello! i dont usually do this kinda stuff but i thought itd be polite to ![]()
all of you sound really nice, and im glad a forum like this exists.
my name is mihai and im an illustrator/animator that started working with krita since late last year, a lot of changes were done to the program i used to use which in the end convinced me to try something else. safe to say im really glad i did so!
i wish all of you a great week and i want to thank you all for keeping this project alive ![]()
Welcome, @anon61164405.
Thank you all for your warm welcome!
I seem to have forgotten to mention that I also write as a hobby and one of my coping mechanism. (Reason why I talk like this.)
But to assure you @raghukamath, I am a verified human!
Using AI is also out of the question. (Maybe Iāll try using it if Iāll run out of ideas one day lol)
If I might have missed the point then Iām probably not capable of understanding jokes ![]()
Itās so nice to meet new people again after tiring myself out with my habitual avoidance.
Hello! My name is Kimberly and i am a 3D artist but i like to draw too
So i will by posting sketches and finished art, and also ask for feedback cause i am still learning specially in painting side
Nice to meet you all!
Hello @Kimby, and welcome to the forum!
In case youāre using Blender for your 3D-Art, youāll probably like @Yuntokoās Plugin āBlender Layerā much:
It can be found here:
With the help of this plugin, you can paint the objects in Blender right away using Krita, while they are still in Blender.
In case you never have installed a plugin in Krita, you can follow my little ātutorialā:
Plugins are installed in Krita by clicking on āToolsā >> āScriptsā >> āImport Plugin from Fileā and in the dialog that opens select the file you just downloaded, confirm the selection, then confirm Kritaās message that the plugin is installed and restart Krita. After that you have to search in Krita under āāSettingsāā >> āāConfigure Kritaāā >> āāPython Plugin Managerāā for the just installed plugin and activate it by setting a checkmark in front of it. Then confirm with āOKā and restart Krita again to be able to use the plugin.
Should you have any questions about the use of Krita or the plugins and all the other resources for Krita, feel free to ask them here in the forum.
