This may sound non-trivial, but is there a button that I can place on the toolbar which can enable a quick colour picker and then revert back to brush mode. On desktop it’s easy using keyboard with control key.
This should help in tablet only workflow.
Thanks! and please have mercy if this was too easy
Honestly, buy a Bluetooth keyboard, because there is not such a button, they are cheap to get and mean a huge increase in comfort. There are nice flat keyboards out there, just be sure to invest a little more for those, as the cheap $20 models often break quickly due to their pliability.
I just wanted to confirm if there is an option or am i missing something. My intention is to use Krita in pure tablet mode so that I don’t have to carry a keyboard also. Thanks @Michelist.
That would be so lovely, to temporarily invoke the colour sampler with a gesture. What I’ve done as a workaround is add the colour sampler icon to one of the toolbars so it’s available to me when I’m in canvas only mode. I still have to reselect the freehand brush after using the colour sampler, though.
If you have an S-Pen you can go through the S-Pen gestures settings to see if there might be one for colour sampler.
Actually there is a gesture assignment that works bettter than i thought. There is one finger drag gesture which can be assigned as colour sampler and it works flawlessly. In fact this should be the default behavior cuz it works great. It doesn’t even interfere with single tap to activate the krita pop up pellets.
That’s so great! I forgot about that as my tablet is not a real artist’s tablet, it’s capacitive only and I had to turn that off to be able to paint. I marked your post as the solution.
If it is so intuitive for you, why you didn’t make one yourself? Or did you forget to add the two letters “un”?
If you have access to the “Members hall”, where the nominations happen, you can try to create a poll with my little quick tutorial:
Dear Michelist, I don’t understand the sarcasm here. Please note that English is not my native language.
Conducting a poll was just a suggestion since my purpose has already been solved and my preference might not go well with everyone. accordingly, I have raised my request to close the thread. Thanks!
Sorry, if you took this as sarcasm, then I’m sorry. It seemed to me like you were just making fun of the fact that creating polls the first time is not intuitive. And since it really isn’t easy, I linked the little tutorial, I wouldn’t have done that had I wanted to be sarcastic.
But something I would have to note, firstly your English is very neat, for that you only have to look at your previous posts, I, as an equally non-native English speaker, could not tell from that whether you are a native speaker or not. Secondly, uncharacteristically for you, without being case-sensitive, you used slang in the sentence (which I think non-native speakers should avoid), and taken together with the “intuitively” I took it as a joking statement.
It was the default before, but changed in newer version (maybe 5.1.3?) for “one finger pan canvas”, since many drawing app for touch device use “one finger pan”, which is easier for most user.
Wrote a small tip for “three finger color sampler” back then just because I want one finger pan canvas but also want gesture to sample colors.
Edit: another feedback which possibly the reason of changing the default function for “one finger drag”
Alright, yeah it is set to pan. Surprisingly i have done the opposite with one finger drag for colour picker and three for pan cuz pan almost works with two finger gestures too.
Accessing colour picker has definitely boosted my workflow. So yeah i guess in some form this should be enabled by default
Alright, seems we both misunderstood and that this perfectly fine. Also note that i didn’t wrote the above in negative manner and was genuinely asking what it meant.
Anyway, you are doing a tremendous job in these forum and a little lighter note and fun is always great. Cheers!
